End User Licence Agreement
The software licence for the Wardsong game client — what you may do with it, what you may not, and what happens when the licence ends.
This End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”) is between you and Wardsong Oy, an individual operator established in Finland (“we”, “us”). It covers the Wardsong game client software, its updates, and any data files it downloads (the “Software”).
Installing or using the Software means you accept this EULA. It sits alongside the Terms of Service, which govern the online service the Software connects to. If the two conflict about the Software, this EULA wins; about the service, the Terms win.
1. Licence granted
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to:
- install and run the Software on devices you own or control, in the number of copies the platform store allows;
- use it to access the Wardsong service for your own non-commercial entertainment;
- make one backup copy where the law gives you that right.
The Software is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all intellectual property rights in it.
2. What you may not do
Except where mandatory law expressly allows it — for example, decompilation for interoperability under Directive 2009/24/EC Article 6 — you may not:
- copy, distribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense or publicly perform the Software;
- modify, translate, adapt, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, or create derivative works from it;
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark or licence notice;
- circumvent or disable technical protection measures, anti-cheat, or server-authority checks;
- create, distribute or use modified clients, injectors, memory editors, packet manipulators, bots or macro tools that interact with the service;
- reimplement or emulate the Wardsong server, or connect the Software to a server we do not operate;
- extract game assets for redistribution or reuse outside permitted fan content.
Screenshots, video, streams and fan art of the game are permitted under the Terms of Service, section 13.
3. Updates
The Software checks for and may install updates automatically through your platform store. Updates may add, change or remove features, and may be required to keep connecting to the service. Older versions may stop working after a server-side protocol change.
4. Data the Software sends
The Software communicates with our servers to authenticate you, synchronise game state, and report errors. What it sends and why is set out in the Privacy Policy.
5. Guarantee of conformity
If you are a consumer in the EU or the EEA, the Software must be as described, fit for purpose, and supplied with the updates you can reasonably expect. If it is not, you have the statutory remedies under Directive (EU) 2019/770 as implemented in your country — repair, replacement, a price reduction, or termination. Nothing here limits those rights.
Beyond those statutory rights, and to the extent the law allows, the Software is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it is error-free or that it will run on every device configuration.
6. Alpha software
The Software is currently distributed as alpha test software. It is incomplete, may be unstable, and its data may be reset. Do not rely on it for anything important. Where you receive it free of charge as a tester, our liability for it is limited to intent and gross negligence, in addition to any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
7. Liability
Our liability under this EULA is limited as described in the Terms of Service, section 12, including the carve-outs for liability that cannot be limited by law and for consumers’ statutory rights.
8. Third-party components
The Software includes third-party components licensed under their own terms, including the Godot Engine (MIT Licence) and the libraries it bundles. The full notices are shown in the game under Settings → About → Licences and are published at https://godotengine.org/license/. Where a third-party licence grants you rights broader than this EULA, that licence prevails for that component.
9. Platform store terms
If you obtained the Software from Google Play or the Apple App Store, that store’s terms also apply to your download.
For Apple specifically: this EULA is between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support for the Software; Apple is not responsible for any claim relating to the Software, including product liability and intellectual property claims; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this EULA and may enforce it against you.
10. Term and termination
This EULA applies from the moment you install the Software until it ends. It ends automatically if you breach it, and you may end it at any time by uninstalling the Software and deleting every copy. Sections 2, 5, 7, 8 and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
Finnish law governs this EULA, on the same terms and with the same consumer protections described in the Terms of Service, section 15.
